The Great Compassion Mantra is fully named "Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva Great Perfect Unhindered Great Compassion Heart Dharani." It comes from "The Sutra of the Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva's Great Perfect Unhindered Great Compassion Heart Dharani," translated by the Indian monk Bhagavad-dharma during the Tang Dynasty. Due to its immense power and incredible efficacy, it is also known as "The Great Compassion Divine Incantation."
